Why do you need to convert it to MBR? If you can get an eSATA external enclosure, you can still use GPT. You should be able to with USB as well, but I've not tested it.

i connected it to my HDD doc and it would not show up in explorer but showed up in disk management saying it was a GPT protected drive and my mobo does not have E-sata

Well, you could try switching the MBR, then back to GPT. Or just format it, the try to set it to GPT.

If you can't, I'd go for two 1.5TB partitions. MBR can start having issues around 2TB.

ok so ill give that a goo because the drive is only being use for mass storage such as old steam games that i dont play much and films. The reason that im doing this is because i want my pc to be as quiet as possible lol

Yeah, I get that. I moved my drives into an external enclosure, and it seems to work fine using GPT with 4TB. I can connect my laptop to it using USB and it still seems to work fine.
