I plan to get the Corsair 780t over the holidays, and wish to light it up with blacklights.

this should make the white case glow, and look totally awesome.

issue is, i cannot find any suitable lighting.

What your looking for are UV LED strips, Darkside makes some really nice ones, another is Phyoba. One thing to note is those kinds of UV LED's work well in dark cases with UV reactive sleeving or tubing/fluid if you have custom watercooling.

Those are cold cathodes tubes, they do work well for a nice even glow but do need an inverter which should come with them, usually LED's are a bit more preffered since they have a longer lifespan.

ok. my question is, will the UV light they give off provide the desired affect on the white case?

That depends since UV reacts with UV reactive paint or products which I doubt the paint is on that case, it's not just solely dependent on color.

hmm...

how difficult/expensive would it be to paint the case in UV reactive paint?

(i notice my clothing does it, so color does have some effect right?)

There are clear coats out there that Can be applied which are UV reactive, personally I would test it if you can get some UV lights, but for clothing it's slightly different since it depends on the material if it's UV reactive and can be affected if you say bleach or wash it in certain detergents which can make the effect greater.

would it be easy to apply the UV clear coats to the case?

also, could i do it to say, RAM?

A clear coat wouldn't require you to change colors or try to match the white to the one you have right now and it is doable for the RAM heatsinks. I have a write up in my sig under RAM and motherboard painting should cover most of it. I would of course test this by getting the UV light to see if any components are previously UV reactive before doing this though.
