Windows 10 Issue?
I just started having this issue today. When I don't move my mouse for about 20 seconds, everything and I mean everything's framerate goes down to 15fps. In games, in my browser, watching videos, and even as I type this. No changes to my PC since then. I have tried restarting multiple times, disabled SLI to no avail. If someone could give me some "tips" (haha) that would be nice. I've already checked the power settings and I'm updating to the new nvidia drivers that came out today.
System Specs:
CPU: i7 4790k
GPUs: 2 GTX 970s
RAM: 16GB 1600mhz
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO
I know it's not due to thermal throttling since my temps are good. Also when I move my mouse while the lag is happening it goes back to completely fine it's just when I don't move my mouse. I'm going to check my CPU frequency and see if it is throttling. *EDIT* Now that I remember this problem happened after I ran an Avast scan today and removed a virus but I totally forgot about it! Maybe it activated itself or something but I'm doing a boot-time scan because it might be a bitcoin-miner type of virus where it thinks, oh you're idle might as well use your resources.*EDIT 2* Didn't run a scan yet wanted to look in my task manager and end something that looked suspicious and guess what, ended about 2 processes, one was a microsoft process rundll32 but there was 3 so that was fishy so I ended all 3 and looked for other fishy processes and now I'm all good!
I haven't found a solution but the same happens for me. but for me its leaving my computer idle for like 10 min starts it and i need a reboot. Somebody told me an update causes the CPU to throttle down to 400mhz or so and hasn't been fixed yet but i have no proof for that.
