I reset everything in the BIOS and decided to start overclocking from scratch, since the CPU runs at stock speed 3.5 Ghz, the first thing I do is get on HWMonitor to see how my temps are because it's a pretty warm day today where I am.

And I find out my CPU is running at 3.9 GHz... ? what I reset it.

Someone please help, I'm new to overclocking. I looked at linus' tutorial but i'm one of those people who need in-depth help.

You could say its stock speed is (without idle declocking) 3.9Ghz (Single core load), but under FULL load, its 3.7Ghz, which is normal use and how it comes to everyone.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Do you have software for the mobo that has tweaking tools?

Explain please, I haven't delved too far into overclocking much.

A Windows application that allows bios tweaking within Windows. (Comes with Motherboard disc usually, or on the Mobo website in support/downloads)

/I never use em, always direct into BIOS.

Oh okay, no I don't use one. I went directly into BIOS. The MOBO I have currently is just a ASrock Z97 Anniversary, it's what I could afford at the time when I first bought all my components.

Those temps are great to start overclocking.  Watch the linus video on devils canyon overclocking.  It will be a good start for you.

1.3vcore

1.95v vccin

See what it does. start at freq like 4.2ghz

I am like COMPLETELY new to OC, I only started overclocking based on one of linus' videos so like I said at the start ( sorry you guys have to deal with someone as clueless as me ) you'll have to go in depth.

What is vccin?

Didn't change the clock speed at all, this time i actually disabled turbo boost, forgot to. it's just at stock speed. but i set the CPU ratio to 42.

And there is no VRIN or vccin at all

Guys would it be better to take pictures of my BIOS and post them here so you can see what the BIOS is like??

Some BIOS's allow screenshotting if you have a USB stick in a USB port.

But the hotkey to save screens may be different across boards. So I dunno what it may be... Prob F12
