My Pc, both from O.S. and BIOS, doesn't show tht DVD Drive anymore, but i was able to install Win in a new SSD

Svallo

[sOLVED] - I think it is the broken SATA II connector on the MB causing the issue... I hope to find a replacement (Inspiron 17R - 5737). I am going to call Dell Support and ask them for any help (last 5 words sounds like a joke, i Know)

Hi everybody, i am here because i can't solve and i can't even explain why and how a functioning optical drive could disappear from BIOS and O.S. for no reason...

I said "functioning O.D." because i tried to install win 10 on my new SSD and even if i couldn't choose it as a boot device ('cause it is disappeared from BIOS, too) the system is still able to use it, automatically, to install the O.S....

Now, the problem is that i would have had to switch the Dvd Rom with the mechanic HDD and using it for Storage, while using the SSD, obviously, for the O.S.. But i can't, because it doesn't show either the HDD neither DVD drive ...

Things i have done:

1- I switched the original HDD(win 8.1) with the new SSD(Crucial mx200 250gb)  and installed Win 10 on it - Last ISO;

2- DownGraded and then back to the latest BIOS firmware;

3- Back with the old HDD with an old and perfect system backup.

The Dvd drive works, it is on, it opens and closes when i click the button and it starts spinning when a dvd is in, even the cursor shows the typical hourglass...
Any Ideas...?

Please... I spent 90€ for an SSD and i can't use it because i need a lot of storage on the go and i can't use a portable hdd....

I Have a Laptop, Dell 5737 bought in 2014.

Thanks a lot for helping me...
