Some might know that I recently painted my 2x EVGA 970s and to do that you have to take them apart (Duh) and never doing this Im not sure if I screwed something up. My temps are stupid high in my mind. 80c when folding. 76-78 in BO3 this is with and without an overclock. I did notice with my spare i7 4790k that the paste spread out a lot (l used the same paste on the Gpu as this CPU) and was actually spilling out of the cooler even though I barely used any on it. I used this same paste on my current CPU (5820K) and my temps are 55c on stress tests. Don't know how but I'll take it. Anyway should I take off the cooler and put new paste? Different brand paste? I used some cheap Antec paste from Best Buy. I have some Arctic Silver 5, ICDiamond (Maybe), Antec, and Insignia paste. Does it make a difference on which one I use? Is it just the terrible EVGA coolers on these cards?

PS: my room is pretty hot. It gets up to 80F. These temps are with a regular room temp though. Even from what people respond I'll replace the paste anyway, but want to hear what people say about these temps and what paste I shall use.

Thanks.

You should replace thermal paste every time you replace a cooler on anything.

Well I did. I know that. I might have worded it weird. I used the Antac crap and not sure if I should use something else.

Did you by any chance paint the heatsinks?

If so, what paint did you use/How thick is the coating?

Oh no. I took everything apart. I only painted the shroud of the GPU if that makes sense. Not sure if this works since I'm on mobile but here is a picture (maybe). http://i.imgur.com/nHxM1we.jpg
