Amazon Finally Adds 2-Factor Authentication

With all of the account leaks that have happened to various companies this is something I am surprised it took Amazon this long to implement it. Like other companies 2-factor authentication allows you to add an additional layer of security onto your account. When logging in for the first time on a given device Amazon will send you a one time use code through your chosen means of communication (sms, or authenticator app) which you then have to use with your username and password to access the site.

This means that if password becomes compromised, either by a hack on Amazon's servers, brute force attempts, or you letting your password slip somehow, your account remains secure because the unauthorized people won't have access to your other communications.

It is definitely a welcomed addition for those concerned about security, especially since amazon stores credit card information.
