Hot Card - Solutions?

GPU - Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB Windforce OC Edition Rev. 2 (GV-N770OC-4GD)

It is starting to get to that time of year again (summer) and my graphics card is starting to get quite hot when running games, this has only started happening quite recently. It now reaches 80 degrees Celsius (under load) when before it never went above 65 degrees Celsius (also under load). I've had the card for just over a year now and wondering what some possible solutions would be to make this card run a bit cooler. I've tried cleaning it out with a few bottles of compressed air and that didn't seem to make too much of a difference. 

Also - Last year, during this time of year when under load it never went above 65.

are you sure? 65 degrees seems VERY low for a card being put under strain

What's your case fan configuration look like?  My 770 runs a little bit warm (80C at most), but I'm almost certain your card has a beefier cooler than my EVGA ACX.

Case  - NZXT H440 Black/Red

 

Front - 3x120mm (Intake)

Top - Corsair H110i GTX (Cooling CPU)

Rear - 1 x 140mm (Exhaust)

 

Also - Looking at EK Vardar fans in the near future.

Might look into changing the thermal paste, Just getting annoyed because it's 30 degrees Celsius in my room without my PC running and then once the computer is on (under load) and the GPU is running at 80 it turns into a boiler.

80c is Max Recommended Temp, so 65c is fine

Hmm you actually have more fans then me.  At this point it's probably either obstructions of air or just the temperature of ambient air.

Even on some cool days it will reach that same temperature.

Yeah, give the cooler a good dust cleaning. Get a can of compressed air and a small soft brush (like for painting) and get all the clogged dust out of that heat sink.

 

If that doesn't do it, replacing the thermal paste might be the next step.

You might also want to check up on the fans and see how they're doing. Perhaps the buildup of dust could be slowing them down. Hopefully the cleanup will take care of that.

 

If that doesn't work, well, then I wouldn't know what else to tell you. Still, 80C max at full load isn't a terrible temp for a GPU to run at.
