Cant sign into imessage

Im trying to sign into imessage on an ipod touch, 5th gen, but whenever I do (with correct email and password) I get this message:

iMessage Activation

Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.

 

 

However, i can go to any web page fine on it.

 

Ideas?

Try disabling iMessage and re-enabling it to see if it's just glitched out.

I restarted the ipod, and it still doesnt work.

 

I can sign into my apple ID fine on a computer

I'd wait a bit and try again. The whole signing in/setting up iMessage on different Apple devices is very non-Apple -- i.e. it's been a pain in the ass every time I've had to do it (but hey, at least it works seamlessly after that).

Hmm that's a bit odd, other than resetting the device or give this a go and see if it fixes it:

I find a lot of theses settings screw up once in a while, my photostream which I use on my PC keeps dropping out theses days.  <_<

Yeah. I couldent sign into my regular apple acount at all. When I tried to sign in, or reset my password, it said "No apple ID with this email detected"

When I tried to create a new one with that email it said "An apple ID with this email already exists"
