Question about response time

So i currently have a Dell S2240M which is 60hz and has a 7ms response time and i play lots of CS:GO. I want to get a BenQ later on in the year that is 144 and 1ms. One thing has always confused me though, does the longer response time cause me to not be as fast to react to somebody popping up on my screen OR is it just the fact that things will be more blurry when checking corners or making turns and that's what i have noticed personally.

ALSO the Dell S2240m is GTG as that's what its advertised not sure what this is either..

i use a similar monitor (7ms as well) and GTG stands for grey to grey (i think), i though it meant good to game tbh. 7ms really isnt that much considering ping is already a factor and i just pretend the extra 7ms is from my internet :P. it also means itll show up .007 seconds later

Its both some additional latency to the image appearing to you and it contributes to blur. There are different factors involved in blur and the time to switch pixels is quite important but so is how long the same colour is held for. 144hz is an enormous jump in visual quality for this reason, it both improves the latency dramatically (time down cable is halved, time to screen is reduced as well) and also the time the colour is held.

Response time does not mean things will show up later. Please see the FAQ at the top of this section. A slow response time will make fast-moving objects slightly blurrier, that is all.
