Budget 1440p?

Vegetable

Ok, so a good friend of mine recently got a 1440p monitor. It's absolutely glorious and I want in on it. Basically, will this build work and what should be changed for the ABSOLUTE BEST bang for my buck?

Also, need a nice keyboard under $70. Don't mind membrane but preferably mechanical if that fits the budget. No macro keys required just a standard keyboard with maybe some LED?

Thanks for the help. :D

Is it okay if its not OC capable? You'd have a more powerful graphics card if you skip out on it

go for single r9 390 or gtx980, never sli/crossfire non-top-end cards, but with a 970, you should be able to game on 1440p

I mean I will at least tinker with it. I feel the largest restriction would be heat but until I start playing with more voltage it won't be that huge of an issue I hope. :/

The aforementioned friend who owns a 1440p monitor has a single 980 and I was unimpressed with his fps in some of my favorite titles (Gta V, BF4, DayZ) but maybe I'm far too picky and that's just the tradeoff of a higher resolution.

Since it is a non-k cpu you don't really need the z97 mobo anymore which can save some more money on the build.

I'd say to get a 390x or a 980 (though that's probably more expensive), it's usually better to one good card over two weaker ones.

Basically you could get an i5-4690k instead if you don't do video editing because the difference in gaming is minimal and you could get a 980ti instead with the added money. Here is a decent mechanical keyboard that NBK and some other pro CS players use that's in your budget https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-keyboard-sgk4020gkcr1us

if it for gaming then its not

4690 + H97 + 8GB + HDD + SSD + 980(Ti)/390X + cheap case + EVGA/Seasonic/XFX PSU = better bang

get a CPU Cooler if you want

PCPP link is nice and I do play with light encoding and stuff so the i7 is essential, also I want to overclock the CPU thats why I had a z97 and an NHD14. Also I can get over 8gb RAM usage in Gta V with my current setup so I'm not feeling just 8gb RAM.

OK, question: would a 390x yield better performance at 1440p than a gtx 980? And would it do more than CF 380's?

well a 390x is one of the cheapest GOOD options I have. Will make a new PCPP build gimmie a sec
