Hello,

I own the acer aspire ax3960 for quite some time now, but the graphics card isn't that good. The NVDIA Geforce 405. So, I wanted to upgrade the card. The problem is, that I have a power supply with 300 W. I found a card which kept my total power usage beneath 300 W.

The Asus Geforce GT 640.

The problem however is that i don't know if the card fits into the slim case of the aspire ax 3960.

The card is two slots thick, and I think there is enough space in the case. But I'm not sure.

Thats why I'm asking.

Thanks in advance.

If the card doesn't fit, do you might now another card for my mini ITX?

Yea lots of cards should fit, but I don't think an upgrade makes sense in that case with that build.

If you're sticking with Nvidia there are plenty of itx 750, 750ti, 950 and even some 970 cards.

There are some single slot 750 cards too if need be.

*edit*

Many of the 750, 750ti and 950 cards don't need PCIE power cables and draw no more than 75 watts max and are often recommended for prebuilt computers with lower output power supplies like that.

how old is the PC exactly?

what are the rest of the PC specs?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

When you buy a new graphics card for that PC. Make sure to check that the bracket is not standard size.

This is the GT 435m that came with my aspire ax3960 most cards in the market (including GT cards) are using standard full size pci brackets. I'd suggest you to get yourself a new case for cheap before you upgrade your graphics card. That way you will have more compatibility.

My full specs:

Acer aspire ax3960

Intel core i5 2300

Nvidia geforce 405

3x 2gb 3ddr ram

Mini ITX intel H67

If I have to thrust the online power calculators, I have enough with 300W.

And if I use the low end brackets I believe I can fit the card in the case.

Right?

this has a low profile bracket...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127738......... looks about the fastest I found so far that would fit the case. I don't know where the n640 fits in relation to performance against it or if the 640 is even a low profile card.

also, if you look you can find a 5450/6450 with a fan on it.

if you keep looking maybe there's a 128 version somewhere??

I use a 5450 in an old machine. can play cod2 on it on a 720p tv with some high settings.

It should. Also only single slot graphics card will fit into the case.

So the Radeon HD 7750 LP won't fit right?

Because the fan is too high.

If its taller than the metal bracket then it won't fit.

Tanks for all your replies.

I think I am going to buy a new case, a new power supply and a new video card. This will make some things easier.

Just hoping that I can get all of the components out of the original case.

If someone has a better idea, let me know haha  ;)
