EVGA Supernova 650W G1 any goo?

zane1214

Ok so am making a new gaming rig and have been told my PSU is, well crap!  its a "Artic Red+ 750w (this it here) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Artic-Power-Supply-Featuring-Floppy/dp/B009S9EU3M. After getting my R9 290 Tri-x and running it in my current crappy build the Artic relly is crappy.

So my question is, is the EVGA Supernova 650W G1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Supernova-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B00LMAUZ6G/ref=sr_1_1/278-3368577-0049033?ie=UTF8&qid=1447381412&sr=8-1&keywords=EVGA+220-GS-0650-V1 actually any good? Or is there something else I should look for?

My planned build will be

i5 4690k (may be OC not sure yet)

MSI Z97S

Radeon Tri-X R9 290

SSD (OS only)

1T Sata (7200 or higher)

Corsair H100i GTX

and i think thats about all that will zap power to be honest

The G1 is extremely poor value. The GS/B2/G2/GQ are far better value as is the Antec High Current gamer and anything from Seasonic.

bofff...the g1 is an fsp built unit with cheaper parts inside...depending on the price it's fine to use and should do you good but quite often the G2 line which is superflower built premium units arent that much more and will offer better value in the long run they last longer and are covered by a full 10 years warranty. it's worth it.
