My buddy has not experienced the master race, he is a console peasant. I convinced him to buy a $500 build. He would like to play Black Ops 3, Battlefield, CsGo, Ark, Minecraft. Colors dont matter, peripherals and OS included please.

 - The Pc

 - OS

 - Mouse and Keyboard (Not too fancy)

Core 2 Quad Q6600 - $15

G41 motherboard - $30-40

Decent cooler of your choice - $20+

8GB DDR2 - $20

120GB SSD - $60

1TB HDD - $40

Seasonic/XFX/EVGA 550W PSU - $60(?)

R9 380/280X/7970 - $220-170

You're gonna have to get most of this stuff used, so no PCpartpicker this time around. But with enough luck you should be able to get it for just under $500.
