Looks good mate, although personally I'd go for the same PSU (850W Gold) but from EVGA. Not used enough Thermaltake products in order to give you a good opinion on that. Other than that it's good.

looks pretty solid and more watts are never wrong ;)  even for an additional ti it should be good

( more watts -> psu isnt running on max load -> cooler + less noise )

i'd reccomend to use a evga psu but the choice of brands is yours

Is 144Hz a must? Is it ok to go a for larger, higher resolution monitor? You got about $855 between the graphics card and monitor. I could look into some combinations.

hm...larger than that would be too much of a shock to me i guess, used to a 15" laptop...resolution guessing could go a bit higher

How about a 27" 1440p 144Hz Freesync monitor with an R9 390X, for $805?

Just to show what you can actually get for the amount you intend to spend...

In this case adding a second card would be a lot cheaper and make a whole lot more sense because;

  • For a 1440p 144Hz monitor there is actually a point in getting a second card
  • Second card would be $355 instead of $679 (not to mention the $50 you already save up front)
  • 8GB of VRAM in Crossfire beats 6GB in SLI

will have to think about that...

so, if i got this right, to see if i got things right, the zotac gtx to a 1080p screen is overkill?

what about getting a 1440p screen? would a lower refresh rate screen work well?

sorry all this questions...nub here, and trying to not mess up (too much) when i go buy things...

Change the CPU cooler to a coolermaster 212 Evo, and the PSU to either, Evga, or Sseasonic.

Yes

A 980ti will max your games on a regular 1440p screen. But you'll end up spending even more than your initial plan.

The 390X has about the same performance as a 980, and a single card will still run your games nicely at 1440p. If you go that route instead, you get 1440p and Freesync while spending less altogether. Adding a second 390X in future is going to max games and give you the framerate to use the full potential of that better monitor.

guess i'll have to take a look on what monitors/prices i can find here, switzerland... if i can find a not so expensive 1440p probly go with that, if not maybe back down from the gtx to the r9

tyvm for all the feedback ;)
