Don't spray paint them. It will ruin the performance, If you can dye them.

Linus mentioned this once, and it makes complete sense. Don't paint them, dye them. They were designed with a certain shape and weight etc. Painting them adds more material and can slow them down, unbalance them, make them louder, etc. Your best bet is to dye them. I'm sure they can be taken apart but I don't know how. I think painting the frame is fine though, just don't pain the blades.

I do not recommend spray painting them. I actually strongly suggest you not. If you painted them the paint would create extra weight on the fan blades, and that would throw off the blade patterns etc etc and just mess up the fan. But you can DYE your fans with dye. I would say you would be fine if you wanted to paint the beige (<----that took me 6 tries) outside bit black, and have the blades still being brown (seems really sexy) but if you were to touch the fan blades, that is a big no no.
