I have 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM. I know Steam is on in the background, but it should not be using 10GB of the 16GB worth. And all of those added up should not be using that much RAM.

MsMpEng.exe is a core process of Windows Defender, which is Microsoft's antispyware utility. It scans downloaded files for spyware; if any suspicious items are found, it can quarantine or remove them. It also takes steps to actively prevent spyware infections by searching the system for known worms and trojan programs.

Turn Windows defender off if you are using another antivirus.

I am not using another antivirus. But what if I turn off Windows Defender and then turn it back on? Is there any chance that it will clear my RAM usage or at least lower it?

It could. Open up Windows Defender and make sure everything looks good(updates, etc.)

I disabled Windows Defender, however, it didn't go down and my memory used didn't clear at all.

Everything is up to date. So MsMpEng.exe is used by Windows Defender. However, that shouldn't be taking up 10.9/16GB of my RAM right away when I start up my computer.

I would try looking for a alternative antivirus as it seems wonky (as usual).

Its a brand new install of the OS. Its hard to believe that there would be any malware on a clean, legitimate install.

So what I have come to realize is that my RAM isn't clearing. It just keeps stacking on memory. Even when I turn off my computer for the night, the previous memory isn't discharged. Also, if I try to take the sticks of RAM out, and put it back in the same slots after 3 minutes, the memory isn't discharged then either. Please help!

I did rundll32.exe and it didn't clear the RAM. Am I just supposed to run it? Or am I supposed to restart my PC as well?

I am fine with a clean install. However, I'm not sure how there can be malware, since this computer was a clean install about 3 days ago. Is there a chance that its an issue with the Windows 10 boot drive that I got from Best Buy?

No. Restart the PC and screenshot your RAM usage after booting. Also, did you disable useless programs in your Start folder?

I disabled most of the useless programs. And here are the images of Task Manager immediately on startup. That is after I shut off the computer for about an hour.

Your Windows AntiMalware is acting up. It should not even be consuming 10MB of RAM. When it take that much, you have a virus or rootkit or something. Have you torrented any programs lately?

Haven't torrented anything on this. This rig has only been running for about 4 days, and in that time, all I have downloaded is Steam, 6 items from my Steam library, Battle.net and the games I have coinciding with Battle.net, as well as League of Legends.
