Whats better? Graphics card or monitor?

ThereGoesChris

Hey everyone so what do you think is the better choice?

choice 1: 2 x GTX 980ti in sli, with my current 1080p monitor

or

choice 2: 1 GTX 980ti and the buying a 1440p monitor like the acer xbu270hu or the rog swift.

In case 1 I would max out almost every game for a while, while in choice 2 I get a much better monitor but I won't being maxing out games for to long if not right now.

What would you choose? Price would be similar, is it worth the upgrade to better monitor?

Thanks for the Help.

Current Build:

i5-6600k, Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7, Evga GTX 980ti, Kraken X61,  EVGA Supernova 1000w Power Supply, 1tb hard drive, 128gb Samsung ssd, 240gb OCZ ssd, Seagate 1tb Hybrid, Windows 8.1

You can always buy a second GPU over time as your current one can't keep pace, i'd buy another monitor, but that's just me.

Personally monitor & 1 980 ti is what I'd choose.

After all, when you're using your PC, your monitor is what you look at!

Yeah thats what im leaning towards to lol but on the other hand being able to get more than 100 fps in games does seem enticing

You can always turn AA and other settings that don't make a giant difference off, sometimes can get you an extra 10-20 FPS.

I actually fundamentally don't think it would make a difference in the end as i assume whatever you don't get onto now you'll get around to later. And there are benefits in both cases.

1 is you have as much power as you need now, and you can add even more power later. other is you have more power than you need now and plan to make use of it later.

I'd get neither. 1080p is more than fine and 1 980 Ti is also great.

Getting a dank monitor is worth it, a 980ti is mighty powerful enough for now! You get to look at the monitor all the time aswell!
