Here you go, play around with this a bit.
Here's my opinion as well.
CPU - The CPU is obvious, one of the best for gaming right now, and if you want it to run well, that cooler will help heaps.
Why thermal compound? Good thermal compound can reduce CPU temps by 5C. (Might not seem like heaps, but it will matter when you need that fps)
Motherboard - Yeah, this isn't the best motherboard, but since motherboards don't even affect your speed that much, this will be fine.
Memory - Very fast RAM, 16GB is more than enough for any game out there right now.
SSD - This is crucial if you want to run your games fast and not lag.
HDD - This is optional, but I recommend it if you want extra storage to keep movies, photos, music etc.
GPU - The 980Ti, probably the 2nd most powerful GPU right now, after the Titan X. Really good for gaming, will last you a long time.
Case - This is a really cool looking case, and it comes with a lot of customisability and the cooling is good with it.
Power Supply - This isn't the best power supply to be honest, but 600w is more than enough. If you want, you can swap it out for another.
Monitor - This is by far the BEST gaming monitor right now. It's 240Hz, and it's the monitor used for competitive gamers. It has extremely low latency, which will make your gaming experience the best.

Keep in mind that $3887 won't be the final price.
It'll be more like $4000 when you buy it.

EDIT: Just realised you only wanted the tower. Oh well, the price minus the monitor is only $3000. If you really want to make it $4000, you can get 2x 980Ti's in SLI.

over budget slightly even without os (but you can find cheap os key on reddit probably) you could save cash by going with a single card.

Why not?

The cpu you have selected is on an old socket X79. What makes you think it is worth an extra $300 over an i7 5820K ?

Way too much on the Motherboard. You don't need a super expensive board. The MSI in my spec is $100 less and it will do exactly the same thing.

The op doesn't need 32GB Ram for a bit of Video editing. A 16GB kit is enough.

The Samsung EVO is a good SSD so I won't knock that choice. Whether the op needs 1TB is up to Him.

The hard drive though is far too expensive. All you need is a 2TB Seagate or WD Black.

You need to try and balance your builds better. Putting too much money into a hard drive or a last gen cpu is just wasting money.

SLI sucks at scaling. There no point.

its not too bad now... there is actually a huge performance increase from one to two card.. its three or four that sucks at scaling

If scaling was important, AMD cards scale much, much better even with "only" dual GPU set ups.
