A Free U2713HM

whatthe_fuzz

so after dealing with Dell's support team, i received my new monitor. i think the colors slightly off but either way still beautiful.

well Dell pays return shipping for the defective monitor which is fine by me seeing as shipping would be ~$50. the problem was i never received a shipping label for the return so i called Dell. after a few days i received a voicemail from a rep telling me that it would cheaper and more convenient for Dell if i just "recycled" the monitor or "disposed of it properly" (DIRECT quotes from the staff). i was dumbfounded as to why Dell would rather me toss out a $700 monitor so i called a different rep and then asked for clarification. she reiterated what the first rep said and then went on to add that Dell does this quite often at the end of the month.

Needless to say i disposed of it alright...  what a waste...

I'm posting this to share my bizarre story NOT to try and exploit Dell. i did receive a monitor from a defective batch and too me the issues present arent nearly bad enough to warrant throwing it away.

I am not encouraging anyway to exploit Dell they have been a wonderful company to do a return through. This was just a freak and bizarre occurrence.

If you would like to get rid of some of your guilt you could send the "faulty" monitor to me :p

What was wrong with the original?

some backlight bleed and crosshatching. both were minor and the crosshatching is only visible on basically an all white image. but the backlight bleed got to me after playing dark games like Crysis

My neighbor has two balls out max everything XPS m2010's. They're so damn heavy, and the power brick seems like it weighs as much as my laptop. Anywho, that's over $6K spent on two desktop like laptops.

I'll snag a pic of both of them if he still has them.
