Build Planning Suggestions

WaelT

it has been a while (around 7 years) since I built a PC, and finally time has come to build a new one and I will appreciate your comments and suggestions.

The Rig will basically be used for gaming, development, light video/photo editing, and of course basic stuff..

I need your opinion about the GPU.. Anything better to get within same price range ?

Also, I'm planning to add a secondary monitor but I need a different one that matches the colors (as much as possible) on the AOC I chose, it will be used for everything except gaming.

Any suggestion that might save me some money or get a better build for similar price ? :D

Thank you ^_^

This is 1800 including OS (just not peripherals)

I would love to go all the way with 980Ti but I can't afford it unless I tweak my build a lot. Also I don't have anything except for a mouse lol so basically I need ev.thing else :D

Why are tyou getting a 960 with a 6700k? Thats a definetly over powered cpu for that card

Correct question would be, why are you getting a 960? Let alone a 4GB 960?

Just get a 970 if you want nVidia that bad and you need 4GB of vram... GPU in the same price range, umm... first since you did say it's just for mostly gaming among the other things get a i5 6600k instead of the i7 and overclock the i5 to the same speed as an i7 or higher then use the money you save to add on to a better GPU like a 970 or even a 290x. Also, you can get an air cooler that will perform better than the H60 which you will need a good cooler if you want to achieve a really high clock speed.

Actually here, I hope this is in the price range of what you had in the first place. I didnt add peripherals btw you can add those :P

I don't mind AMD or nVidia, I just want best bang for the buck ... About air coolers, doesn't it worth it getting H60? Or should I upgrade to H100 to get a decent performance?

The rig is not only for gaming, it is for several purposes :)

What do you suggest aside the 970 ? If we were speaking AMD!?

the h100i is good, but still there are air coolers that can perform better. Like the guy above me posted in his list, the Noctua D14 and D15 can cool just as well as water coolers if not better in some cases. They are AMAZING air coolers. Like outstanding. Aside from a 970? If you were to go AMD then I'd say a 290x or a 390x if you could somehow manage that. From my newly learned knowledge of a 390x it seems to be a good fit at that price rangish type thing.

Actually the guy above me, that build would be perfect. Just change the RAM back to 16GB and lower the SSD back to like 250 or something to save that money.

Thanks for the tips, but I assume H100 would be better than the Noctua D15 (Since both of them around $100) don't you think so ?

They will both be about the same. Honestly its just your preference there, just make sure you have good air flow for either and you should be fine. I'm just a little biased to air coolers because I've gotten better results with them in my own systems. You will be able to get mass overclocks with both coolers though. So if water cooling is really what you want then go for it. :) You won't be disappointed with either no matter what. Just go with whatever you think will look better for your system. Just remember, proper air flow is key to keeping any system cool.

Where water coolers come in handy is the ability to directly exhaust all the hot air and force a lot of cold air through the radiator to keep the cpu cool despite ambient inside the case.
