Hey everyone,

I would like to overclock my asus gtx 560 DCUii. It comes factory overclocked but by really not that much. I was wondering what you guys would recommend starting at for an average 560. I understand that not all cards overclock the same but I would just like a rough estimate. I plan on using msi afterburner, should I perhaps use some other program? Also what should I be using to see if my overclock is stable? Unigine heaven, valley, furmark, msi kombustor(those are the ones I currently have installed )? I don't want to buy a benchmarking/stability test program.  What should I be aiming for in voltages, clock speeds, memory clock etc?

Thanks for the help

1. Get MSI Afterburner

2. Increase Frequency and test on Uniengine and 3D Mark

3. If doesn't fail, increase frequency a bit higher. If failed, Increase voltages little by little.

4. ???

5 Profit!

But in reality don't push too far. Stay around original clock and find a satisfying spot.

What you need is not an overclock its a better card I recommend the 7950 or wait for 9xxx

Maybe he already has the 560 and cant afford an upgrade

Might be buying a 590 off a friend for 200 bucks so. I just want to oc my card in the mean time. Personally I prefer to buy NVidia cards over amd although that might change with the 9000 series.

thank you for your help, what would you say would be a safe max voltage. I don't want to push it too far and kill my card.

use MSI afterburner, set voltage at 1025, core at 925-940 and ram at 2300, that will get you an extra 10-12% (10fps) performance over stock 560 speeds.

Well depends. What is the stock voltage? Cards can vary but you should always start on the base and work your way to see what is it able to go for.

the problem with a factory overclocked card is they have already used up some of the overclocking head room but that does not mean you cant overclock what i suggest doing is moving the clock and voltage up bit by bit and each time you move it up do like a 2 hour stress test or shorter if you dont want to take up to much time but it can be safer to do long tests just to be sue your not slowly destroying the card

Stock on the GTX560 is 975 GPU 810 ram 2004....

I have stock card (Direct CU) and a DirectCUII TOP which runs at 1025v 925mhz 2100mhz

I overclock the stock to match the TOP, if that makes sense....

Although i have had the TOP at 970 at 1025v didn't make any difference though as i think the other card was holding it back in SLI.

I think the Stock card could probably handle a little more overclocking...but I'm happy enough with the free 10% performance gain.

The stock voltage is at 1.025 volts. I can reach .96 GHz with that but when I try to push past that I cant. I increased the voltage to 1.03 but for some reason when i hit apply in afterburner it resets the voltage to 1.025(1025 shown in afterburner). Do you know what could cause this? Is my gpu locked at that voltage?

Possibly. Some GPUs are V locked so not much more power can be added.

so it turns out that i cant increase my voltage by 5 milivolts. i had to go from 1025 to 1037. I was able to get 970 MHz at stock voltages though so i will just stick with that for now. I don't plan on having this card much longer anyway.

thank you for your help
