Hi guys and gals!!

I know it is only the beginning of November, but my laptop is ever closer to dying *sheds a tear*

I've never wanted a fancy computer but the more I see on Youtube when watching LTT videos and JaysTwoCents, I really want to build my own PC. My only issue is that funds aren't easy to come by.

I'm thinking of asking family and friends for money for Christmas to put towards my own setup and was anticipating around £500 budget to spend (I am in the UK)

What would the following be like, and what improvements could you suggest?

CPU: Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  (£90.32 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£62.99 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£35.98 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB Video Card  (£178.98 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Thermaltake Versa H23  ATX Mid Tower Case  (£28.54 @ CCL Computers)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£38.49 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £452.74

The i3-4170 is cheaper last time I checked, you could just get a uATX B85 motherboard to same more money, 8GB of RAM is a must nowadays, Fractal Design Core 1100 is a cheaper yet functional case and that PSU is less than ideal, try aim for anything from seasonic, Superflower or XFX.

Bump the RAM to 8GB, change the motherboard to something that's not Z97, the rest should be okay.. That i3 won't last that long before you'll want a better CPU though.

Cheers everyone!! PC Building is very new to me so not entirely sure what the best route was. I've had a look around for Quadcore but it's probably going to take me over the £500

Let me see what I can make you.

Slowly indeed. It's one that I imagine being relatively basic to begin with but, as money comes in, I'll swap parts out. Also make improvements as I learn more

Will you be gaming right away? I've got a pretty sweet rig that'll be expandable...

Low level games to begin with. I'm not a big gamer at the moment but I'll be looking at getting into that too

What do you mean by low level? What settings will you play at? How long do you think it'll take the GPU to get upgraded? Sorry these are important questions that could make or break the build I'm going to suggest...
