So after hearing the xbone is going to cost £430, I've set a goal to make an entry level gaming pc for the same price and get the same, if not better gameplay experience.

My main goal is to turn my console peasant friends into entry level pc gamers.

This is what I have thus far;

CPU:  AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor  (£75.59 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard  (£38.69 @ Ebuyer)
Memory:  Corsair 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 Memory  (£31.30 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card:  Asus Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB Video Card  (£82.82 @ Amazon UK)
Case:  Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  (£47.98 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply:  Corsair Builder 430W ATX12V Power Supply  (£35.32 @ Scan.co.uk)
Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  (£68.39 @ Aria PC)
Total: £428.45
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Can any of you offer some changes that may make this system better?

I really don't want to break the £430 mark.

Thanks for reading.

Well, you can pick up a cheap keyboard/mouse combo for like £10, and they'll be able to use a HDMI cable to their TV's for now. So I won't be including them in the price.

The thing is, you cant really get performance like the new consoles for the same price, consoles will have custom parts and better optimization. However if you drop a bit more, then you will definatly see a big improvement over consoles.

if you are going to be gaming don't super cheap out on peripherals, keyboard and mouse for £10, I hope you are not planning to play any FPS titles

The processor, maybe. But the GPU is much stronger, butting heads with the 7850 1GB.

I was considering it, but then I would be £12 over budget, sounds dumb but I need this rig to be the same as the xbone. Unless there's somewhere else I could lose £12?

An AMD APU might be worth considering. I've seen systems perform pretty well with the internal gpu in crossfire with an added Radeon card. On a side note, trying to match the price of a console and make a gaming PC with the money isn't exactly an easy thing to do since consoles are specifically designed to run games and to be sold at prices that make them available to a large part of the population.

May the Force be with you.
