ASUS or MSI?

Hi guys. Getting a R9 390 for a friend. Should I get the MSI or the ASUS gaming Direct CU III OC? Looking for which is better in terms of lover power consumption, better cooling ability and clock speed. Dont know if he plans to OC. I like MSI because of its gaming app. But not sure overall. Prices are very similar so that's not an issue.

Gaming app? What gaming app?  All 390's take the same amount of power, only factory overclocks change that.  You won't be finding a low power high clock speed low heat GPU if that's what you're looking for.

The MSI version gives a little app that is included where you can select modes like silent gaming and OC. and also boost fan speed for a bit. I probably used the wrong word sorry.

I typically don't really ever recommend Asus products over a lot of other brands. I just don't like Asus for some reason.

Like I said, the only difference in power draw comes from clock speeds, and 1 off products like Kingpins cos they were made for extreme OC.  None of the 2 examples are either of these options.

Just saw the Sapphire Nitro? 1010mhz?? Really? Should I just go with MSI??

Msi. One of the best 390s. The cooler is also similar to the Lightning's.
