Advices/high temps overlocking

I recently replaced my ASUS motherboard with a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 as the Asus motherboard pretty much died. On the ASUS motherboard, my 4770K was running on 4.4GHz pretty fine and after I switched over to the MSI I started to run up to some problems. Whenever I try to overclock my CPU to 4.4/4.5 GHz the temps are going to 100 degrees's right away when I stress test it with Prime95. Now I'm actually curious if it's my H80i that's not cooling properly, if my 4770K is about to die or if there is a option in the BIOS that add's more core voltages as i set in BIOS.

Don't use p95 first of all. It overvolts.

Second, remount your cooler.

It could be both the CPU and the H80i, as that probably killed your last mobo. DO a check in the settings and such in the advanced menu of your bios.

What did you set the voltage at? Pre-Devil's Canyon Haswells are notorious for having terrible TIM between the die and IHS. Even if you set the voltage at something reasonable, the only fix may be delidding.

I installed my motherboard 2 weeks ago even put new cooling pasta on it, yesterday i remounted the cooler on the CPU and replaced the cooling paste once again.

My Asus motherboard was already causing problems before i overclocked it. It's a second hand PC that i bought 1 year ago and the motherboard was doing weird all the time so it's not possible that the CPU killed the motherboard.

I overclocked the CPU to 4.5GHz on core voltage of 1.240v. I ran Aida64 for 5 minutes to see what temp I would get with this configuration and if it would BSOD.

 

The temps went really high as you can see on the screenshot, but it was mostly staying between 85-92 which seem pretty high for me. I would expect that the 4770k would be much cooler especially after reading Anandtech's(http://www.anandtech.com/show/8227/devils-canyon-review-intel-core-i7-4790k-and-i5-4690k/2) article with their results @ 4.5Ghz cooled with H80i. Should I consider replacing my H80i with H100i / Noctua NH-D15? Or replacing the CPU with 4790K?

Update:

I got BSOD after i re-opened my chrome (with 7 tabs saved) and increased the core voltage to v1.250 , below are the results of 5 minute run.

I already removed Prime, replaced it with AIDA64. See the AIDA64 stress test results above.

Check thermal paste and make sure voltage is not to high...

Yes, the fan on the H80i is working, also the 2 pipes from the H80i whenever i touch it on 100% CPU load.

What are your temps, before you OC it? If it still runs toasty at stock speeds... then somethin might be wrong with your cooler. Just a guess

Don't use p95 first of all. It overvolts.

Second, remount your cooler.

 

 

So does OCCT, Aida 64 and other things as well.

 

It only does it when adaptive voltage is on.

2406 - 2432 ish RPM idle and 100% CPU load, I'm not even sure if the RPM's are displayed correctly, though.

I haven't run it on stock speed, i will do that and do a another run with AIDA64 and post the results whenever i got time.

A small update. On AIDA64 I noticed CPU and FPU were both selected when I done the previous stress tests, my CPU is currently clocked on 4.3GHz at v1.190 core voltage. Here are the new temps without having FPU enabled:

Comparing this results with the previous one, there is around 15/20-celsius difference. I will try to overclock it to 4.5GHz 1.25v
