Cortana using internet

Why? I disabled cortana and now it uses all my bandwidth everytime I look in taskmanager, I can hardly play games and when I kill it it just comes back. What do I do?

go back to windows 7

Cortana has been fine on my phone, haven't touched MSX

Probably a bug. Have you disabled p2p updates? Maybe that's what's using your bandwidth.

except you can't do that. it's like saying you could reprogram torrents and seed to people so they get malicious torrents from your seed, it can't be done.

Well, never say never, but I agree. If you had the skill to hack Windows that badly, you'd be the most wanted cybercriminal on the planet.

well, it can be done, but it's damn near impossible, you would need to corrupt the main file microsoft uses as a guide not the one in your computer.

Indeed, I imagine that every file that gets transferred via Windows Update, whether it's via the Update Server, or via P2P, is hashed, and gets verified before processing anyway.

the verification can be spoofed

like arp spoofing

or spoofing an IP

:P

its probably really really easy if you ask me

spoof file SHA1 checksum and there you go

windows update = botnet or virus

if you want to disable it forever, change your language to English Canada .... Cortana still only works in the US.
