So, I've re-installed Windows 10 about a week ago, and installed a few games (GTA 5, Battlefield 4). However, after a while of playing, the game freezes (and in the case of GTA 5, I hear a Windows message sound) and then both my screens go black. I tried to 'wake it up again' by pressing keys and clicking buttons, but it didn't wake up. I have to hard reset the computer and boot back to Windows.

I decided to look into the Windows Event Viewer and found this, which keeps appearing when this weird crash happens:

I marked the error with red. As far as I know remote computer "EXPERIA" is my router. So naturally, I go check for events on my router. I couldn't find any that would relate to the problem I'm having on my computer, as there is quite some time apart. The last event prior to the crash was "sending ACK to 192.168.2.7" (my PC)

So far, this happened twice playing Battlefield 4 online, and about 5 times already playing Grand Theft Auto V OFFLINE. This hasn't happened outside of games, and I haven't tried if disconnecting from the internet resolves this issue. I most likely can't test that, because I have both games digitally.

And before anyone asks, I have done a scan with Avast! Anti-Virus and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, both have come up clean.

Most likely GPU drivers. At least in my experience.

Did you install the chipset for the mobo? If its a network issue that seems weird to me.

As @ZetZet said it sounds like an issue with GPU drivers. May want to reinstall them

Yeah ZetZet or maybe OC

ARE DRIVERS GOOD MY FRIEND?

Do you have any gpu oc software?

I've checked, every driver was installed and up to date. I will try re-installing the GPU drivers.

I had EVGA PrecisionX but I removed it. I installed MSI Afterburner later, but I had the issues before I installed any OC software.

Have you done any over clocking with any software? And yeah i had the Precision software for my 560ti before i upgraded. It was utter shit lol

Right now I have +100MHz on Core and Memory. Relatively small overclock and it was pretty stable. However, even at stock speeds this happened. I also monitored CPU/GPU temperatures to make sure. The GPU stayed below 53 Celsius and the CPU doesn't get higher than 62.

You did this through MSI Afterburner and not EVGA correct? I would start by removing the OC even though temps seem ok. Take one thing out of the equation anyway.

I only used EVGA PrecisionX for the OSD, but then I realised that MSI Afterburner had a way better and customisable OSD (yay RivaTuner).

Also, opening MSI Afterburner, I realised I didn't even apply my overclock xD

Oh well, atleast that was not the problem.

LOL i have been there! So reinstall the drivers and see how that goes. It sounds like a driver of some sort to me. You may want to check your hard drive for Windows faults but thats only if the problem continues. Also may want to try another router just to see if that is the issue, but again i doubt it.

Well yeah, it could've been caused by the driver. Normally I use Snappy Driver Installer to install all drivers in one go, which works fine, but when something goes wrong it's always best to uninstall and re-install from an official source.

Maybe I missed it, but is this a AMD or Nvidia card that is giving you problems? If it's Nvidia I had to roll my drivers back to fix some issues today. (The Driver 358.50 was unstable on my system.) Hope that helps.

It's an Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti. Needless to say, I've had multiple issues with Nvidia drivers/software in the past on older cards. Maybe the re-install was all that it took. The 750 Ti is still a pretty current card and if there's issues I doubt this would fly over Nvidia's head.

We'll see when I put the system to the test again. This time I will more closely monitor everything with MSI Afterburner.

Also, kind of on-topic, but I think this issue and the ones I had in the past are related to my motherboard. The network controller is an nForce 630i. Also, I've been getting inconsistent performance. In BF4 for example, it would sometimes pin the CPU to 100% and run only 25fps, and other times it would just go all fine with 70-95% on the cores and close to 60fps.

Hmm well that raises more questions than it answers. That sounds like a problem to me. What PSU are you running?
