Windows 7 is old.

Doesn't mean it's not great...

There must be a reason most businesses are running Windows 7. Even when they were forced to upgrade while 8.1 was out.

8.1 and 10 are filled with privacy issues as well as interface changes that would be a major headache for help desk.

Because Windows 7 has compatibility mode which also allows Windows XP business programs to run.

Otherwise IMHO, Windows 10 because it's super awesome and windows 7 is old.

It's not a joke. For businesses with private company information..

I didn't say interface changes are bad. But for older people they often were told to do something one way, and when something changes it causes them frustration. And yes, older people do work...

That was one of the biggest reasons businesses stayed with xp so long, they had programs or even hardware that would cost them thousands of dollars alone to upgrade. For what.. To fix what isn't broken?

Have you read privacy policies? Look at the settings that are enabled by default. did you know by default if Windows defender (included with Windows) detec s a 'virus' it sends the file to Microsoft? It's actually an option in the program.

Yes, it's an option in the program that makes 101% logical sense. I don't understand what you mean.

People like you aren't worth arguing with. Bye.

You think it's a bad idea to collect malicious files in order to make Windows Defender a better program? You do know that most other anti-virus programs do that too and don't even tell you. I mean, it's basic, you need the viruses to see what they do to make a program that defends from them.

At least the privacy statement for 8.1 doesn't give Microsoft the right to download all your emails and files if they so choose.

'Malicious files'

Microsoft wants a file? They call it malicious then they have it.

I actually don't use antivirus, haven't got a virus in years.

There have been some security studies that have seen that when you turn off those options, they are re-enabled almost immediately.

Same with other antivirus programs, if they want to take your files they can.

If you don't use antivirus you don't have to use Windows Defender either. If you do it doesn't make any sense to disable that feature.

No. the reason is it's easier to keep doing what they have then learn the minute changes.

It has nothing to do with the FACT that the end result would be better for the company. The transition would be so painful for most companies (hell most IT people don't know shit outside of their little spheres and getting them alone retrained would be a huge pain) that they hold on as long as possible. Just like what we saw with XP.

It's the concept of opportunity cost. Suppose you have this old car... It's a piece of shit and is worth basically nothing. Some people would refuse to put any money in it whatsoever. Others keep it going. Those that keep it going for non-sentimental reasons recognize that while the device itself might be worth relatively little, the cost to replace the car with a new or lightly used vehicle is VERY HIGH (relative to the cost of repairs).

People like you aren't worth arguing with. Bye.

Lol when your arguments are RIFE with logical fallacies you are actually the one not worth arguing with.

Yes. That's a disclaimer so they can take your files if for example NSA suspects you to be a terrorist and wants to see your emails or check your onedrive for illegal files. Microsoft has done this before.

Skype is all recorded too. We know this. What's your point?

I guess we all have our own opinion of what "privacy" is. If you are fine with people meddling with any data they see fit, have a ball.

They can't do anything with that data they obtain if it's actually legal, if they take it it's still yours. They can only access, disclose and preserve the things that are actually illegal. If it contains your private secret stuff, they steal it and you didn't do anything illegal you can still sue them to hell.
