overclocking

how do you know if a monitor can be overclocked? also is it safe or cant it harm it?

I love this post.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

because overclocking a monitor isn't really a thing. 

 

i mean, it can be done, but you obviously didn't google at all before asking.

 

when you overclock a monitor all you're doing is upping the refresh rate a little, it doesn't help that much if your GPU can't keep up anyway. and you might have issues with Vsynch.

my gpu can keep up with a higher rate

You can't overclock it in the same way you would a GPU or CPU but you can change the rate at which it refreshes. IT basically goes off the type of panel and the controller board inside. Usually they are only made for what they are rated and anything higher can cause damage and failure. Just buy a 120hz monitor. Asus makes one that is $159
