Hi there

Like the title states, I was wondering what the best option for a PC build of this price would be. Id obviously need at least a Quad-core and am leaning towards an AMD processor because of the price but I was wondering what you thought.

Also I wont need a case or OS as I already have both.

Thanks for your time

Plus he kinda chose a.. well.. mediocre PSU... What case do you have? And give me a moment to make a list.

That PSU is a very nice PSU. I've been using it for 6 months now with no problems.

Would it be OK to just save money on the CPU and get a cheaper AMD one? How 'cheap' could you go before you start running into problems?

Well from my personal experience I've been using it on my gaming PC and it's definitely great for me. Plus you might as well call it fully modular because you can remove all but the main (one) cable. =p

If PC for gaming, AMD CPUs aren't good at all as they have inferior IPC compared to Intel.

Ok, so what about a 4430? Thats as bad as it gets for an i5 quadcore. What about that?

4460 is a very good cpu and is perfect for gaming

and the 4430 is actually more expensive according to partpicker

Yeah, that's perfectly fine. Intel CPU's are great really. If you want to still stick to the $700 without a case then maybe take my original list and you could even upgrade the CPU if you'd like - just get the CPU's without the "K". The PSU is honestly fine, but if you really want to swap it out then you could.

The reason why it's listed as $26 is because of mail-in-rebate. It's such a big hassle to go through. =/

(unless OP is ok with it)

But when are you ever going to find a deal like that on a premium quality PSU?

Unless you're willing to spend 3-4 weeks on getting your money back... I would search for another one.

This is slightly over budget ( by 15 dollars ) , and you can choose a cheaper b85 board if you want , however i really thing the h97 chipset has useful features.

Edit : now that i reread your post , you can simply get rid of the case i put in the link to squeeze it into budget.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case
