so for uni I want to invest in new equipment because I need to be able to do work at home, this mean I to get my hands on:

  • Soldering iron (variable and hopefully higher wattage)
  • Brass sponge for cleaning the soldering iron
  • Oscilloscope (digital and pico scope)
  • Heat shrink
  • Heat Gun
  • breadboard
  • Multi Meter

in the UK ONLY!

soldering iron needs to be quite small enough for precision work.

thanks :)

You can also think of investing in a multimeter. Almost a must since you will be working with electronics.

good point added to the list, I knew I forgot something xD

I recently-ish bought a Fluke 115. Not really a cheap multimeter, but quality of it is great.

You could probably get away with a £50 multimeter.

Edit: Here are two that should more than suffice.

I would also look for a lamp that has a lense for magnification. It can really help for fine work or for close inspection when something isnt working.
