980Ti HoF

Its cheaper and is only a few MHz lower. Besides, you'll be able to pull off an insane OC on the HoF anyways :D

Maybe. It all comes down to the silicon lottery.

The lightning is better in the same way a KINGPIN is better its made for overclocking youll be able to kill it with the lightining. Although why not spending a few extra bucks and go for the KINGPIN because its black

Maybe. It all comes down to the silicon lottery.

even then every card is practically guaranteed a few MHz and then again

the price point on the HoF still wins and with the free Solid State Drive, who's complaining

and from what I remember they do undergo some testing of sorts on the Hall of Fame cards because one of the main selling points are *right off of the features page*

  • MLCC multilayer ceramic capacitors with vastly reduced ESR for more stable overclocks
  • 8 phase GPU + 2 phase memory power
  • The true advantage of the GALAX TI HOF series cards, however, lay in their completely unbridled potential for overclocking and the GTX 980 TI HOF 6GB delivers with advanced power systems

Either way the Hall Of Fame is the undisputed king, even you know there is no point in spending some extra 80 dollars on 13MHz which you may or may not get lucky and have the card turbo past that, as the 1291 boost is a rough estimate as well as the 1304. Oh and yeah the free SSD, the SSD its self cost about 80 dollars :P

The feature page does not gaurantee a GPU that overclocks well. The advertisements refer to the power delivery system. I'm not denying the value, but there's still no gaurantee of any overclock.

Eh, Vince's cards are more copper.. it would ruin the whole black and white look you know?

Also ASIC quality isn't everything

yeah but its the only card with Samsung RAM iirc? Isnt it the fastest 980ti?

It might be the only card with Samsung RAM

but in no where near is it the fastest card @ stock speeds

http://www.evga.com/articles/00944/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-980-Ti-KINGPIN/

As said here:

Base Clock: 1203 MHz

Boost Clock: 1304 MHz

------

Which again is a very rough estimate, and by this point we've all seen Lukes video on Turbo boost and whatnot,

Its all the same amount of memory, same bandwith, almost the same memory clock ( Sock it is cant tell the full potential the HoF reaches though) and both 384 bit ect. Again not to sure if the HoF has Samsung RAM but it sounds pretty damn close if you ask me.

again both pages are here where you can compare the cards :D

Like JayZ said the ASIC quality doesn't determine how well your card will overclock. Because I got some 71.8% and it cant overclock for the life of it.

Yes technically it is the fastest card, but 180 dollars more is NOT something I would pay for just too get 2% higher ASIC quality, which in reality doesn't even determine that much

HoF = $700 core clock w/ boost = 1291

Lightning = $780 (On New Egg)  core clock w/ boost = 1304

There will be no insane OC without LN2 on this Card. All OC with air or water will be more or less the same.
