Interresting topics including Math and IT

Hey there,

 

I am about to write a large assignment in Highschool.

 

I have to include both Math and IT in the assignment, one example could be AI, where I use IT to explain what it is and what it is used for, and math to explain the algorythms and so on.

 

So my question is:

Can you think of any subject YOU find interresting within the area of IT, where math can be used to explain the IT?

 

I just need some inspiration to my brainstorm.

The first thing that comes to my mind is using graph theory to represent things like file system structures, networks, etc. You could also look into the "Traveling Salesmen Problem" and its real world applications such as a program that schedules package deliveries.
