Svchost.exe is a Windows Service that help developers build Windows Service by nit having to build one in full.

Basically it supports a basic set of functionality which it can execute to a linked dll. Many software developers, Microsoft included uses it as they don't need to break their head, they don't need the full power of a Windows Service, and they have a back-end that is strong, optimized and secure for the user (this is good for us).

That is why they are a bunch of them in a system. To know which one links to what (and if it is another program located somewhere else with the same name (like a malware)), show the command line column in the command prompt. You'll see the full path and the dll or group it connects to.

To do this, simply right-click on the columns area of the Task Manager, and select from the menu that will show up "Select columns". A panel will show. On it, check the box for 'command line', and click on OK. Once you do you'll notice the 'Command line' column added. Simply expand it to see the full content, and you'll see what is causing the problem.
