GTX 980 ti CS GO issues

MADCATZ

Hi,

I recently got a 980 ti, I used to have a HD 7870 XT.....that would pull around 200 to 280 FPS at 1080p in CS GO, I haven't changed any settings and the 980 ti is getting less FPS. I have monitored it, and while in game its only 50% or less utilized. In other games like GTA it will boost up and do its thing.

Is there anyway I can get it to perform better while playing CS ?

Thanks in advance!

With CSGO it's a very cpu intensive game which I think is your problem.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

Is your csgo fps capped at all? maybe move it up to 500fps or something. If its still 300 (the default) it probably wont hit it. If you want more fps increase the cap. Also maybe your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu. CSGO isnt a demanding game so dont expect ur gpu to run at 100%

Yeah could be, might have got to a point where my card out does my CPU!

I agree, the source engine renders more with the cpu than gpu (because it's base off of other, older engines.)

My native language is C++

I've tried uncapping, must be my CPU! Should I buy a better water cooler in the future (H100I GTX) and over clock my i5 or get a new CPU...most likely a i7 6700k ?

Edit: Due to heat, I am now running the i5 at default speeds

My X5660s have terrible IPC & are old, but my 980Ti gets 100% usage

OP, turn all the video settings up and  crank MSAA up to 8x, and Texture Filtering mode to 16x

(for the future, your 3570K is GREAT for gaming, and it should not bottleneck any game. You really don't need to upgrade for a while :D)

Overclocking your i5 will help in removing the bottleneck but I assume your playing at 1080p.  A 980ti is way to op for 1080p maybe get a 2k monitor?

I've been considering it for the future, I am aware its a little overkill :P

Im running 980ti sli for 1080p, just dont have the $$ for 4k. I wouldn't worry too much about csgo having any less than 200fps, its fine. As long as your high demanding games like gta 5 run good then you should be right.

2.8 GHz and they are over 5 years old (approaching 6). Absolutely NO way you're bottlenecking

Yeah! I feel the difference between 200 and 300 FPS though, I've played A LOT of CS GO........

I am getting a good 100 FPS less than I would get with my old card, my CPU can push 300 FPS on CS. The 980 ti is only running at 30% utilization....not even trying :C what can I do ? the problem is not my CPU

Did you try my suggestion? It will make the graphics more detailed, thus making the GPU work harder, and you should get more frames

Yup, no result. When I am playing the card is running at 800MHZ and the fan is at 10% temps are low 60's, this clearly shows how little it is doing. It thinks its too good for CS and doesnt try....thus performing worst than my old card
