Surface Pro 3/4- A portable computer that doesn't have to be a laptop. Runs a desktop OS, and with that runs lots of professional programs.

 

iPad Pro- A bigger iPad with a fancy pencil. Runs a mobile OS, has less than 10% of the programs that the Surface has, and makes no sense whatsoever.

Surface Pro definitely. Not that I would ACTUALLY buy either, but in theory, I'd get the Surface.

There's a huge difference between a mobile OS and a computer OS. So, definitely Surface any day.
