FPS stuck at 116 in all games?

Go to solution Solved by truebilly,

If you use MSI afterburner there might be this framerate limit here you want to check it's in the RivaTunerStatistic window:

Capture.png

Also make sure your monitor refresh rate is set to 144hz in your nvidia control panel!

You know what? I decided to adjust the framelimit anyways to see if it did anything. Maxed it at 200... thank the lord of heavens. My framerates are going pass 116! Changed the limit back to 0 and yes! Still hitting over 116 fps. Thank you so much! ahaha. Rivatuna was probably being screwy even though it was already set at 0 limit.

Hi guys

I just recently noticed something odd going on with my fps. Just built a new system going from x79 3820k to x99 5930k clocked at 4.5ghz. Clean install windows 7. All drivers are up to date. Power settings set to Performance mode.
Both old and new system used SLI Asus 980ti Strix on a Asus Rog Swift 144hz monitor.

When I benchmarked in Tomb Raider, my x79 system would get a minimum of 111 and easily a max of 144 while my x99 system for some reason gets a minimum of 114 and a maximum of 116. I found this really odd so i decided to run other games like Battlefield and a few others that could max my fps. Those also couldn't go beyond 115/116 fps. I even tried changing the graphics to the lowest settings and I'd get the same results. Max fps of 116.

Yes V Sync is off, G Sync is on
Monitor is set to 144hz
I believe the games I tried does not have an FPS cap as I never had to change anything on the x79 system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

check your graphics driver options, there might be a global fps limit set. If you can't find it, just do a clean install of your graphics drivers, it should get rid of all the settings.

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Just checked. Framelimit is 0 as well. And yes my monitor is set to 144hz ahaha. sigh wonder what the problem is.

I always have the latest GameReady driver from nvidia experience...i do not install ''fixes'' or ''hot drivers'' manually...never had to.
