My first GPU

I am looking at building my first gaming PC, I am not going all out on it with money at the start I will upgrade in the future but at the start I want it to be good enough to have good performance.

I am looking at getting either the  4GB AMD Radeon R9 380 OR the  4GB Nvidia GTX 970. 

My friend has a GTX 970 and says it is really good and works well and he has no problems with it at all.

If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

the 970 is miles better but if you can get an r9 390 8gb

Why not the R9 390? It's usually cheaper and better than a 970.

i'm kinda an nvidia fan, so i'll suggest the 970.

The 970 has less performance and less Vram, (3.5 usable)

BUT

It does come with Nvidia Geforce Experience, which comes with a bunch of features

 

 

Theres the 390 that has more prefroamnce and more Vram

No features but has better performance overall

If it's between those 2 and only, get the 970. If you can stretch your budget, get the 390.

R9 390. Unless you have a super low-wattage PSU or have a need for CUDA or other nvidia features.

The 390 is cheaper, and performs better. Get a 390 rather than either of those two.

I am getting a 650 watt PSU (non modular), I will look at getting the 390 but if i cant i will probably go with the 970
