Jump to content

Click on the link labeled "Open Resource Monitor" right there to get a more elaborate view. On the Disk tab of the Resource monitor you can find info on what software is doing it. Something like scheduled virus scan or backup would do that. But it can be malicious too.

It might be Superfetch - try temporarily disabling it.

When I had this issue it was a broken HDD though...
