Good CPU Cooler for a Mid-Tower

PlamenDrop

Hello,

I am looking for a good air cooler to fit inside my NZXT S340 case that can support 2 sticks of high profile RAM. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am running a 4790K on an ASRock Z97 Extreme4. Not planning on overclocking right now, but I'll invest in a water cooler if I ever decide to OC in the future. I'd prefer something around $50. I was checking out the Hyper 212 Evo, but I doubt that'll fit in the case...

Thanks!

The Noctua U12S sells for 60usd in my country. It has to be cheaper over there :) !

Get the Noctua U14S if you want to have better overclocking yields on an air cooler. The U12S can already cool well though

Tell us what case you have and we can figure out what clearance you have for the CPU height.

I specified that in my original post.

Why not stick with the stock cooler if you don't plan to oc yet?

It's not the most attractive pieces of hardware...

The Pure Rock is good for a moderate oc: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk009

If you would like to push for higher oc's, the True Spirit 140 is a good alternative: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermalright-cpu-cooler-truespirit140power

I just got the rig up and running. I decided to leave the stock cooler in until I can get a good holiday deal on a decent cooler. As soon as I fired up the PC, the sound of the stock cooler was utterly terrible! I don't know if I can last until Black Friday...

Have you tried adjusting fan settings in the bios?

I'll just leave it on default settings for now to see if I get used to it, otherwise I'll switch to silent mode.
