Hey,

I want to surprise my girlfriend with a winter trip to Rome. We have a choice of two hotels and I don't know which one to chose.. I know many of Rome attraction however I know nothing about the area or how to get around. The two hotels are called: Sunrise hotel and Romoli hotel. Which one is close to the main attrations? The colloseum ect. Thanks. I'd be really grateful is someone would chat to me about it via Skype, Steam or any IM.

Hello, i work in a hotel in Rome which is called Hotel Morgana, it's a four star hotel near the main station called Termini, it's around 15 minutes walking to colloseo, 20-30 minutes to other main attractions, the Vatican with metro can be reached in 15 minutes. :)

Is the transport easy to use? I mean, English translations and so on? Metro and bus? I'm not renting a car because after watching Top Gear in Rome I understand the risks xD

Yes it's quite easy to use, well you'll always be able to ask stuff about geting somewhere at the front desk, so you don't actually have to worry about it. Renting a car is not worth in Rome, too much traffic, in my opinion it's just a waste of time. If you're lazy you can consider on buying a panoramic bus tickets called "hop on-hop off bus", kinda nice and comfortable way to visit main attractions in rome and the price is not that big as well, around 17 euros for 24hours ticket.

How is the metro? Rome is massive and I'd really like to see the Vatican City.. Is the metro spanned across the edges of the city as well? We only have two days. Also, what do you think about the Giardino degli Aranci in Colle Aventino?

Fairly easy, there's an app which can tell you when will the bus arrive but I don't know if there's an english version.

Normal, like any other city, they're not full of people at least. Can't help you with getting in places since the last time I went to the center of the city was 2 years ago.

:P I'd also visit suburbs / periphery if you have spare time, you'll see they're very different from USA and UK's. I'd do it myself but I'm too lazy.

I've never been to Rome myself but I can give you a tip on Italy (and probably anywhere else) in general, do NOT go to hotel/restaurants nearby tourist attractions like the colosseum, the prices will be high and the quality relatively low.

I go to Florence everyday and I'm still shocked by the price/quality rateo of the restaurants surrounding the dome.

I suppose you're italian then right? :P I might also add to visit small cities like Frascati (15-30 mins away from south of Rome by car).

As I've said, I only have two days So we want to see the major attractions. Any top 5? Things on my list are:

1. Colosseum

2. Vatican City
