What's the general opinion on Dell? I've had several over the years, starting with a 2004 Dell Dimension 4600i, and they've always been *somewhat* reliable, although, they just kinda work lol. I dislike them as work station computers though, especially if they're a model from 2005-2009, way too many issues.

Current Build: Intel i5-3570k @3.8GHz; MSI-Z77-G41; 8GB Corsair Ballistix @1600MHz; EVGA SSC GTX 650TI 2GB; Adata SX900 128GB; Western Digital Green 1TB; Asus CD burner; Corsair HX750 750 Watt power supply; Cooler Master HAF-912.

I have very good experiences with Dell desktops/monitors/laptops. Although I do not recommend their cheaper products such as Inspirons (too much plastic in my opinion, but they have very interesting prices). Latitudes and Precisions are the way to go, I have a couple of laptops here which are over a decade old and still work without failure. Their Dimensions are usually build quite good as well, especially the PSU's which can usually output far more than what they are rated for. As far as monitors go, you probably already know ;) Their service is excellent as well, so are the shipping times. I'm a bit of a Dell freak, over the years I have worked with countless of their products and still using them at the moment (I'm typing this post from one :) ).

Dell laptops are probably the best consumer grade laptops out there with Samsung and Asus. In terms of desktops, don't care for them except for business PCs because, well they're pretty good tbh.

Guess what one of those batteries caught fire, ON ME. Killed my jeans and the ambulance people said that the jeans were so thick that they stopped any damage to me skin(not my head however). its not a time i like to look back on. We have a new battery for the laptop and due to me flinking the laptop out of the window was the reason as to why its still alive weirdly, the battery dislocated itself and only the outer casing as some rough scratches. Its quite crazy to think i could of died that day.

In my opinion, Dell are a good company for providing MASSIVE bulk orders for mediocre computers in offices. Now i'm not saying they're the best quality, but the prices you get when you buy a million of them can really make things easier for companies

So wtf is a gateway pc then, or did no one see a £750 pc with a mere i5 2320. Dell does rip you off if you can make your own pc but if you cant then they have great prices and they are by far not the worth oem company.

My Dad has a Dell laptop that is 8 years old and still going strong; not a single problem. He still uses it from time to time, but he bought another laptop as his main computer.

I also have a Dell CRT monitor that is probably 13 (if not older) years old and still runs just fine.

Holy crap dude. Now im scared of using a laptop.

Its due to SAMSUNG screwing up voltages, putting a waaaay too powerful battery in the laptop, it over volts and no laptops had protection for that, that was over in 2009, now there are more safety inspections, dell isnt the only one, ive heard of macbooks doing the same thing, in fact my uncles macbook pro had a battery are increased to twice its size, he didnt know because he was on holiday, thats was weird, i replaced the battery. I would of taken pictures if some **** thief not stolen my phone that day.

Dell is great for people wanting a black box type computer, where they don't care or will ever look inside or tinker with it.

Anyone on this forum though I think you're just throwing money out the door no matter how cheap it may be as you can't mod it much unless you like to paint.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

I've had good luck with Dells. Owned a Dimension 4700 for the longest time and now it's time to upgrade. Had some weird issues with after cleaning and replacing the PCI card that came in there and having to do some weird "reset" thing where I disconnect the front USB and motherboard power then reconnect the motherboard power and then the USB or something like that but that was towards the end of its lifespan anyways. I kept it and it still works

Agree with Overl0rd, for business they are good, but it is not for enthusiasts like most of the people here.
