Since you are aiming to max games at 1440p you don't really need a i7 (processor is less of bottleneck at higher resolutions) , drop to a i5 and get a R9 Fury or 980Ti, at least a R9 390X.

One 390 cannot max out witcher 3 1440 60+ fps, I think only a 980ti, titan, or fury/x could do that and I'm not even sure about the regular fury.

Try to go for a 390X at least and drop the i7

This pretty much: you need a Fury x or a 980ti to max out 1440p. Now whenever or not it's actually worth it vs High that I don't necessarily agree with but oh well.

Yes the 980ti is the fastest card out (with the exception of the Titan x that jumps 350 bucks for a minimal advantage) and after that the Fury X then the 980 and Fury and close behind the 390x.

How many frames would the regular R9 390 get on the Witcher 3 at 1440p and 1080p?
