R9 390?

Should I get the R9 390 or something more powerful for my build in that price range? I would like to play games like battlefront, the Witcher 3 and GTA 5 at max settings. Also, can my build handle 1440p gaming? '

r9 390 is more than capable for 1440p. get a sapphire version of r9 390

If you are going to get an ATI card: get Sapphire

 

If you are going to get a nVidia GPU: get EVGA

Since you are aiming to max games at 1440p you don't really need a i7 (processor is less of bottleneck at higher resolutions) , drop to a i5 and get a R9 Fury or 980Ti, at least a R9 390X.

A 390 is nice for 1440p, but if you want to max out games like witcher 3 @ 60 fps youd need 2 of those.

One 390 cannot max out witcher 3 1440 60+ fps, I think only a 980ti, titan, or fury/x could do that and I'm not even sure about the regular fury.

Yes the 980ti is the fastest card out (with the exception of the Titan x that jumps 350 bucks for a minimal advantage) and after that the Fury X then the 980 and Fury and close behind the 390x.

980 Ti SLI is what you're looking for then for max settings at 1440p.
