Hi Guys,

Typical comparison here with so many opinions, But what CPU is truely better 4 Vs 6 Core, 4.0GHz Vs 3.3GHz, 16 Vs 28 PCI-E lanes, finally future proofing???

Just want straight answers as to what you think for typical scenario Gaming, Streaming, Video editing, Graphical work.

Umm nope, there are not enough games that benefit enough from hyperthreading or extra cores to make it actually worth upgrading from i5 to i7.

*sigh* Looks what happens when they enter the city. If you're going to comment, please make sure you research first.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

At no point do I see the 4690K drop below 50 fps? Its still happily playable.

Did you read the question asked?

I was replying to the guy saying a 4790K. If you are going to spend that much on an i7 on mainstream go the whole hog and get X99 (its barely more expensive anyway), else get an i5 and upgrade sooner.

Also check my previous answer; I said I would get a 5820K assuming you are going to overclock, but the return on price/performance for 4790K just isnt there for me. It would need to be ~£50 cheaper to really be recommendable.

A 4790K is vastly superior to a i5 4690K. If you have the budget, why buy a CPU you know you'll have to replace? Since the OP clearly has the budget, it's foolish to buy a 4690K.

If he has the budget for a 4790K then as I said go buy a 5820K; far better CPU and those 2 extra cores are a godsend for rendering/compiling.
