Why oled TV's took so long?

Hey guys,

I just watched linus' video on the LG oled TV he got sent, and it got me thinking. If amoled has been on phones for so long now, why is it taking so long for it to be a viable option in the large scale?

Is it similar to how you can get QHD phones for the price of some QHD desktop monitors?

Selling points.

No one gives a flying fuck about OLED on TVs, as long as they do the thing they're supposed to do.

Phones are mostly marketing gimmicks, and AMOLED is a BIIIIIIIG marketing gimmick

Amoled isnt a marketimg gimmick, if you actually get an amoled phone, youll never go back. The battery life is amazing. Everthing is clean and crisp. Gets very bright and very dim for night time

You still can't help but feel that AMOLED can feel like a marketing gimmick.

I know I feel that way, but maybe it's just me ;-;

The improved contrast seems like something I would expect people to appreciate. Dark scenes being grey isn't very appealing...

I remember the PSVita release day asskicking OLED screen.

3 years later and I would have expected to see some (overpriced) monitors for PC.

Because they are really expensive to scale up. And irronically smaller pixels are easier for amoled than larger ones (in the same fashion small leds are easier than big ones).

I mean we could get them, but honestly there hasn't been a push for it yet so no one cares.

Also because response times are not yet up to par.
