CPU target max 65 Celsius Problem

Hi !

 

I have a Problem where when my cpu hits 65 C it throttles (thats crazy low since its a Fx 8350 i am running here) So I would like to have this fixed but the problem is thats in the MOTHERBOARD so i dunno if this is just the worst designed motherboard of asrock (The Asrock Extreme3 R2.0 btw ) but its really getting annoying since i can't even play battlefield 4 without have a fps drop 10 fps every 30 seconds which is unplayable.

 

So i currently have no idea how to fix this or that i have seen something over my head But i assume that the fx 8350 can hit higher than 65 C since its max Celsius rating is 95 C~~

 

My Rig 

 

CPU                   : FX 8350 Black

CPU COOLING : CM Hyper 412s

GPU                  : MSI R9 290 (twin frozr)

MOBO              : Asrock Extreme3 R2.0 

PSU                  : CM G750M

CASE                : Fractal design R5

FAN SETUP     : 1 140mm in front 

                          1 140mm rear 

                           1 120mm on cpu (since 140mm doesn't fit )

Front drive bay of the fractal design is removed 

 

So If anybody could help me/give a tip or just say what i am doing wrong.

actually iirc 65°C is actually when it is meant to throttle.

 

only tip is to reduce OC or cool it better.

AMD has a recommended maximum core temp of 61C or 62C. Despite the whole "they run hot" malarkey they are actually not able to withstand all that much. Obviously it's a recommendation, and they can handle much more than that but they need to be kept cool.

 

Also is your motherboard the 990FX Extreme 3? Or the 970 Extreme 3?

 

If it's the 990FX then you're fine, but if it's the 970 it only has a 4+1 phase VRM which will not handle much of an overclock on an FX 8 chip.

its the 970 one couldn't affort the 990fx one

Oh so the recommended temps are that that explains a bit but i can't see how dafuq my cpu would throttle at games it can easily run because its "badly cooling" but the fact is that i am not using a bad cooling solution so i don't know how but i would like to play games again without the stuttering

Then it's likely not your CPU that is causing throttling at all. That board can barely handle an FX8, there isn't even a heatsink on the VRM stacks!

lol so what would you recommend ? a new mobo or cooling solution?

Use AMD overdrive and show us your load thermal margin!

 

68c - thermal margin = true temp!
