So just wondering because I have not used the gpu tweak or afterburner but my card is set to not run the fans below 60c (Asus r9 390) but I am more worried about if it ramps up enough with heat. I don't really wish to use any added software as I can already control the gpu clock/power/ram within amd overdrive (all set to default currently). I see there is a fan control in overdrive as well but it only lets you set a determined % so no curve which in all honesty may work just fine however I don't know if you select say 30% in 3D mode and the card starts getting hot will it still ramp over 30% to save itself or does it just stick to what you commanded?

Just seems at stock my temps are ok but the fan speed seems reletively slow (like db was a bigger priority over temp and I have seen a review for the Asus 390x that would thermal throttle until they set their own speeds) so I could raise them up and still not hear them over my case fans while also making sure I never thermal throttle etc... Just wondering if they will still ramp on their own if my set level is not enough in a demanding game.

The card is designed to ramp up slowly once the GPU hits 60C. The card will be fine in controlling the fans unless you have some specified temperature you wish to achieve. In the testing you've seen, did it continue throttling or did it eventually even out? The 390X is more powerful and so will output more heat than the 390.

the fan curve is set so that its quiet and only ramps up if it gets too hot, like over 60 or 65C

it's perfectly fine because when reaching 80C the fan is at 100% which is enough to keep it below 80, and if not it will throttle itself to prevent damage

the stock fan curve is perfectly fine, don't worry about your temps, its safe
