Difficulty with backwards Hackintosh

My 2008 MacBook (Core 2 Duo) won't let me partition the drive giving me the error "couldn't unmount disk." I have the iso for Windows 8.1 converted to a dmg for install. I can't access anything but Disk Utility, Terminal, and Safari because I can only access the Recovery Mode. Any help is appreciated, I just can't figure it out. Thank you!

 

EDIT: The dmg is on a MS-DOS (FAT) formatted USB drive and the HDD is formatted to the same.

you cant do it like that. 

 

I know you can boot Windows from a USB drive without BootCamp onto an OS X device. How should I go about doing it? I've only ever installed OS X onto a PC.

I've seen some people install without BC or ||.
