Lightworks...

Go to solution Solved by Sir Asvald,

I some help or at least some clarification with this, whenever i'm done editing a video in lightworks (free version) and then i export it in the youtube format the resulting video is 30 mins long, video is there but afterwards it's just a long ass blank screen.

Hmm. I had the same issue. But I moved to Premiere Pro.

Can you post a screen cap of your project timeline?

Two possible causes, if I understand what you said correctly, for having a long interval of blank screen after the video is done.

  • Check your timeline settings to make sure they match the duration of your video
  • Check to make sure that near the end of the timeline sequence there isn't an audio/video clip that you forgot to delete/remove - because it has happened to me where I am cutting a sequence of clips in a single timeline that is over 2 hours long, trying to reduce it to under 30 minutes and I forgot to remove a tiny clip at the end that the rendered video had a long empty interval between when my 30 minute video ended and before the actual playback of the video ends

I've experienced this and I don't know why it does it - can you shorten the video somehow, maybe in the settings you choose when you create the project?

Sig under construction.

here ya go

OK how long is your video supposed to be?

While I haven't used Lightworks myself, it looks like you have a very long audio clip that is not paired with any video sequence.  So when you render and play back on your media player, there is audio but no video for that part.

V1 is your video track, A1 and A2 are your audio tracks.  In your screen cap your audio tracks are longer than your video track.  Always remember to remove everything from your timeline that you do not want rendered, else they will be part of the final output.

In my experience the project may be randomly lengthening that, but I've had this issue without any audio tracks and without any video tracks that are longer than a couple minutes.

I'd just use After Effects or Premiere to shorten it

There are "auto trim timeline to length of clips in the project" features in certain NLEs, and in others the length of the timeline will be whatever you choose in the settings and will require manual re-adjustment before final render.  Depends on the software and preferences.  In Adobe Premiere, it automatically trims the length to the end of the last audio or video clip in the timeline and will render the empty areas if you leave blank spaces between two clips.  In After Effects you have to manually check the timeline length once you finish editing and is ready to render.

Something like Handbrake might do it.

I was just being sarcastic because those are paid programs and the OP probably can't afford it, given they're using Lightworks.
